Upgrading

Upgrading is pretty self explainitory however this guide will tell you how to upgrade and what the risks are.

Step 1 >> Equipment and Cores

to be able to upgrade an item you need to have the right level of core, the following list shows which cores can be used with which armours/weapons.

Core Type Armours / Weapons Usable With Can be use instead of :
Low (UCL) Aramid / Shadow Steel or lower Nothing
Medium (UCM) Titanium / Pherystin or lower Low (UCL)
High (UCH) Sigmetal or lower Low (UCL) & Medium (UCM)
Highest (UCHH) Mithril or lower (all Armour / Weapons) Low (UCL) , Medium (UCM) & High (UCH)

<Note> Using Cores on any armour lower than Aramid / Shadow Steel is just wasteful as those armours become useless once aramid is wearable which itself can contain crafted stats
"adept" "guard" etc..

Step 2 >> Upgrading Risks and Penalties = (

As with everything which makes your equipment better in some way theres always risks to upgrading The following List Shows what Penalties You recieve should you fail.

Rank Core Loss Further Penalties
+0 to +1 Yes None
+1 to +2 Yes None
+2 to +3 Yes None
+3 to +4 Yes None
+4 to +5 Yes Demoted to +3
+5 to +6 Yes Demoted to +4
+6 to +7 Yes Demoted to +0
+7 to +8 Yes Item Destroyed
+8 to +9 Yes Item Destroyed

Step 3 >> Upgrading the Item

Now you have decided you wish to upgrade your item make sure you have the right core for the job and right click it (the mouse will turn into a core with a "+")
Now left click the item you wish to upgrade See the images below for an example.

<note> You may have noticed in the second image i got two sucessful upgrades. This is because i failed the first +5 to +6 and my gloves got demoted to +4 and i then got my two successful upgrades taking me to +6.

<note> Higher level upgrade cores will give a higher rate of success on low level items for example: Using an Upcore High or Medium on Aramid gives a higher success rate than using an Upcore Low on Aramid.
